Cannabis Industrie Awards 2026: the nominees and the odds
Voting is open until 22 November, and the winners are announced on 27 November at the PCN Cannabis Congres in the Evoluon, Eindhoven. Here is every nominee, and what the numbers say about who might win.

How we worked out the odds
The organisers publish no vote counts, so nobody outside the awards can say who is ahead. Our numbers come from the nomination lists alone. The equal-odds baseline is simply one divided by the number of nominees, as if every nominee were equally likely to win. For the product prizes we add up the nominees per grower, because a grower with three nominated products has three tickets in the draw. The odds are a way to read the lists, not a forecast. Real results depend on who rallies the most voters, and on whether one grower's fans split their votes between its products.
The Golden Peak is decided by a jury of three, so it has no odds. Most other categories are decided by public vote. Grower of the Year goes to the grower with the most votes across the weed, hash, pre-roll, vape and edible categories, per Cannabis Industrie.
Disclosure: Cone Koning Prints, a nominee for Startup of the Year, is run by The Daily Cone's editor. It is listed here like every other nominee, with the same odds and no extra attention.
Grower of the Year: who has the most tickets
Share of the 70 nominated products across the five product prizes. Bars show nominations, not votes.

Leli Holland4 of 70 · 5.7%
Fyta2 of 70 · 2.9%

Q-Farms and Hollandse Hoogtes lead with 15 nominated products each, 21.4% of the field. Aardachtig has 9, Linsboer 8 and CanAdelaar 7. If votes followed nominations exactly, the two leaders would be almost level, and the winner would depend on small differences. That is an assumption, not a result.

Names that show up twice
Going by the names in brackets on the lists, several people and companies are nominated in two categories: Youri Florijn (Balou) and the shop Balou, Aernout Ackermans (Upstairs) and the shop Upstairs, Willem Vugs (Toermalijn) and the shop Toermalijn, Erwin Habets (Kosbor) and the shop Kosbor, Karel Schelfhout (Biotabs) and the product Biotabs, Sandra Spreij (The Boxx Almere) and the shop The Boxx, Alexander James (Dank Dranks) and the startup Dank Dranks, and Benjamin Selma, Stephan van den Berg and Tim Hoebee, each nominated as an entrepreneur and through their seed bank. Carlo Calyx (Vape Sesh Limburg) is nominated as an entrepreneur and for his Vape Sesh Limburg innovation. The Boxx is the shop in our lead story from Almere Buiten.
Entrepreneur and Startup of the Year: who can win?
Two prizes are about people and new companies rather than products. Here are the past winners, the full nominee lists, and a win chance for each nominee with the working shown.
How these odds work
Every nominee starts with the same weight of 1, which is the equal-odds baseline. We then add 0.5 for each fact we could check on the lists and in past results: the nominee is on the ballot in a second category through a linked company or shop, and the nominee or their company won a Cannabis Industrie Award in an earlier edition. A nominee’s chance is their weight divided by the total weight of the category.
These weights are our own rule of thumb, not data. We assume that a name on two ballots gets seen and voted for more often, and that a past winner has an audience. Neither is proven. A weight of 1 means we found nothing to add, and it does not mean the nominee is unknown or weak. No vote counts are published, so the real result can differ a lot.
Disclosure: Cone Koning Prints, a Startup of the Year nominee, is run by The Daily Cone’s editor. It gets the same rule as everyone else. The rule gives it no extra weight, and nothing in this section is a recommendation to vote for it or for anyone else.

Total weight 26.5 across 20 nominees. 8 nominees have a weight of 1, which gives them 3.8% each. Nominees with two linked entries have a weight of 1.5, giving 5.7%. The highest weight, 2.0 for Stephan van den Berg, gives 7.5%. The spread is small, so no nominee has more than about one chance in thirteen on this rule.

Dank Dranks is the only startup with an extra factor: its co-nominee Alexander James is also an Entrepreneur of the Year nominee. The other six get a weight of 1 and 13.3% each. That is almost a flat field, so the odds say very little here.

In the three editions we could check, every winner was a different name. The reports give no runners-up. Total votes rose from 947 in 2022 to just under 5,000 in 2024, and the 2025 report says only that thousands voted. With more voters, a small group of fans counts for less, which is one more reason to treat our odds as a loose guide.
DEA grants federal registration to more than 900 medical marijuana dispensaries
Marijuana Moment reports that Attorney General Todd Blanche announced the DEA has granted federal registration and protections to more than 900 medical cannabis dispensaries, as part of the rescheduling move. The newsletter says the DEA cannot register businesses in states that have both medical and recreational licences, or that allow self-certified medical access. In the last edition we reported a White House adviser's claim that the DEA would move quickly. These registrations are the new development.
The Marijuana Herald adds that the Justice Department said on 30 October that dispensaries in seven states received registrations: Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, South Dakota, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia. It gave no per-state count. The DEA's public applicant list, updated on 1 November, shows Florida's pending dispensary entries falling from 748 to 44, and the national total of dispensary entries falling from 4,197 to 3,298. The Herald cautions that the list does not prove every removal was a registration, because applicants can also withdraw.
Per the newsletter, DEA guidance gives medical marijuana businesses until late November to buy product only from companies that are registered or applied on time, and a DEA brief says a GAO report found gaps in the process but does not undermine the rescheduling. We have read the two reports, not the Justice Department announcement or the DEA list itself.
Velsen plans ten-year coffeeshop permits, and the owner of Scolo objects
Cannabis Industrie, citing IJmond360, reports that the municipality of Velsen (IJmuiden) wants to replace fixed-term coffeeshop permits with permits valid for ten years. The plan is still a draft. Scolo owner Leenders spoke to the council on Thursday 29 October.
He says Scolo moved in 2022 at the municipality's request and that he was promised an indefinite permit in return. He says revenue fell 30% in the first year after the move. Velsen points to European rules, which the local party BCD disputes, citing a ruling of 12 December 2025. Leenders will file a formal objection, and the council then decides the 2027 policy. We have read the report, not the rulings.

Police groups join campaign against Massachusetts cannabis repeal on vote day
Marijuana Moment reports that the National Association of Black Law Enforcement Officers backed the "No on 8" campaign on Monday 2 November, and that more than 50 current and former law enforcement officials signed an open letter against the measure. Question 8 would repeal the laws allowing regulated recreational sales and home cultivation, while keeping legal possession and the medical system.
Per the report, Governor Maura Healey and her Republican challenger Mike Minogue both support keeping sales legal, as do more than 50 state lawmakers. Voters decide today, and we do not yet have a result.

Adults only. No health or medical claims, no content aimed at under-18s, and no selling of cannabis products through the listing. The event or channel must be legal where it operates. The editor reviews every listing and may ask for changes or decline it, and if we decline you get your money back. Listings do not change what we report. Checkout runs in Stripe test mode for now, so no real payments are taken yet.

Questions
Who writes The Daily Cone?
Stories are researched and written with the help of AI from published sources, and every story links to the sources it used. If you spot a mistake, tell us and we will correct it.
What do I get for free?
The whole front page, the events diary and the weekly digest are free. Paid plans add daily briefings, reminders and longer market reviews.
Can I cancel?
Yes, at any time. Payments are handled by Stripe, and you can manage or cancel your plan from the receipt email.
What does "Sponsored" or "Advertisement" mean?
Sponsored articles are written by the business that pays for them and reviewed by the editor. Advertisements are paid placements. Both are labelled, and neither changes what we report in the news.
Is this medical or legal advice?
No. We report news. Laws differ by country and change often, so check local rules, and speak to a doctor about medical questions.
Who can read it?
Adults only (18+, or the legal age where you live).
